Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day
Oh how I love this book. It so perfectly sums up how every child (and adult!) feels once in a while. Alexander’s Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day begins when he wakes up with chewing gum in his hair…
Mummy & Me Cook
Few activities are as much fun as cooking with mom or dad. This lovely cookbook offers the perfect balance of quick bakes and a few more ambitious projects, such as chicken risotto and a blueberry sponge cake. I love the introduction of the food type, such as rice or tomatoes, and the explanation of what they are and how to cook them.
A Walk in London
This retro style introduction to famous cities like New York, Paris and London gets huge points for its artistic style. Follow a mother and her daughter as they take a tour of London, hopping on a red bus, stopping over at the main sightseeing attractions and learning little bits of interesting info on them.
Poems to Perform
Poetry gets a rough deal with most children. Being forced to learn a long poem can take the joy of the rhyming words away. Wouldn’t it be great if children thought poetry was fun? A vibrant collection of poems perfect to be performed. Selected by Julia Donaldson, author of The Gruffalo. Ideal for teachers, parents, children: anyone who loves great poetry.
An Awesome Book
This is one of the books that inspired me to create this site. I found it through word of mouth (my sister-in-law) and ordered it on the internet. (www.averyawesomeworld.com)

Just William
I discovered Just William as a schoolgirl on a holiday in Salt Rock. The house we rented had a stacked bookshelf of assorted books and there lay about five of the 12 Just William books. I was in heaven! Set in England in the 1920’s, William is a scruffy 11-year-old boy with a penchant for getting into trouble.
